From London with Love

The Proof Project has focused on contemporary British original prints and on opening this market to South African collectors. We have sourced and exhibited wonderful examples by some of the defining artists practicing in the UK today: Banksy, Hirst, Miller, Kapoor and Hockney.

Our inspiring and enriching trips to London have allowed us to establish relationships with dealers, publishers and gallerists and to explore its global and dynamic art scene.

We acquired our first Harland Miller editions for local collectors in 2017, at a time when he was virtually unheard of in South Africa.

Born in Yorkshire, Miller is a writer and artist best known for his appropriated Penguin book cover works, where incisive and subversive titles disrupt and recreate meaning. The works are as much aesthetic as they are thought-provoking, revealing an interest in surface and principles of colourfield painting. Harland Miller has developed a serious following of celebrity collectors include Ed Sheeran, Courtney Cox, Ron Wood and the late George Michael. Juxtaposition creates new, subjective narratives that keep on giving.
